Boat Trailers in Hamilton

Boat trailers built right here in the Waikato. Local pickup from Tamahere, face-to-face advice, and trailers matched to Hamilton boaters' favourite spots from Raglan to the Coromandel.

Your local boat trailer manufacturer

Alpha Trailers is based in Tamahere, just south of Hamilton. That makes us the most convenient option for Waikato boaters who want to inspect a trailer in person, get expert advice on matching a trailer to their boat, and drive home with their new trailer the same day. Hamilton and the wider Waikato sit at the crossroads of some of New Zealand's best boating water. You can be launching at Raglan in under an hour, hitting the Coromandel beaches in 90 minutes, or putting in at Lake Karapiro in 20. This variety of conditions is exactly why we build trailers that handle everything from salt-water coastal ramps to calm freshwater lakes.

Where Hamilton boaters go

Raglan is the closest coastal option for Hamilton boaters. The harbour's tidal ramps get shallow at low tide, making a multi-roller trailer the smart choice. The Coromandel Peninsula is a summer favourite, with quality ramps at Whitianga, Whangamata, and Tairua. Lake Karapiro, south of Cambridge, is popular with water skiers and wakeboard boats and offers easy freshwater launching. Lake Taupo is about 90 minutes south and has some of the best-maintained ramps in the country. The Waikato River itself provides access points for jet boating and casual cruising. With this range of destinations, most Hamilton boaters end up at both salt and freshwater launches across the season.

Local pickup and same-day setup

Being based locally means Hamilton and Waikato customers can arrange a workshop visit to view trailers, discuss their setup, and pick up their trailer on the spot. Ray will walk you through the spec, adjust rollers or pads to suit your hull shape, and make sure everything is set up correctly before you tow away. No waiting for freight, no guessing about the fit. For customers further afield in the Waikato, we also deliver to Matamata, Te Awamutu, Cambridge, Morrinsville, and surrounding towns.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pick up a trailer from your Hamilton workshop?
Yes. Our workshop is in Tamahere, about 10 minutes south of Hamilton city. You can visit by appointment to view trailers, get advice on your setup, and drive away with your trailer the same day. Call Ray on 021 487 996 or email [email protected] to book a visit.
Which trailer works best for Raglan?
Raglan's harbour ramp gets very shallow on low tides. A multi-roller trailer is the best choice here because you can launch and load without backing as deep as a carpet pad trailer requires. For most boats heading to Raglan, a single-axle roller model like the AT 500-SR or AT 550-SR covers the common boat sizes in the 14 to 17-foot range.
Do I need a different trailer for lake and sea use?
No. An Alpha trailer handles both freshwater and salt water conditions. The hot-dip galvanised frame protects against salt corrosion, while the multi-roller system works at both tidal coastal ramps and deeper lake ramps. Just make sure to rinse your trailer with fresh water after every salt water launch.
What are the most popular trailers for Waikato boaters?
Our most popular models for Waikato customers are the AT 450-SR and AT 500-SR for boats in the 12 to 16-foot range, which covers the typical tinny or mid-size hull used for Raglan, the Coromandel, and local lakes. For larger boats heading offshore, the AT 600-SR and Tandem range are popular choices.
Do you service and maintain trailers locally?
Yes. Being based in the Waikato means local customers can bring their trailer in for bearing repacks, brake checks, roller replacements, and general maintenance. We also stock genuine replacement parts for all our models and can fit them on site.
